Empower at the 16th ECSACONM Biennial Scientific Conference 

Empower was a sponsoring partner and presenter at the 16th Biennial Scientific Conference hosted by the East, Central and Southern Africa College of Nursing and Midwifery. We presented our work with Johnson & Johnson to strengthen the supply chain capabilities of frontline workers, nurses and midwives during the conference. Prof. Paul Lalvani, Founder & Executive Director of Empower School of Health, along with CHS Advisory colleagues, engaged in a thought-provoking dialogue with H.E. Frehiwot Abebe. The discussion centred on harnessing resources to develop a skilled workforce in Ethiopia across the supply chain, regulations, and manufacturing, while also exploring strategies to boost capacity building, efficiency, quality, and resilience in the pharma supply chain ecosystem.

Empower School of Health had the pleasure of meeting with Dr Abdiku Gelgelo, Director General of Ethiopia Pharmaceutical Supply Service, to discuss impactful initiatives including supply chain capacity building, launching e-learning for ERP training, and establishing a digital hub for CPD. We look forward to collaborating on these strategic projects and driving innovation together!

Partnerships for Global Health in Action! 

Our Founder and Executive Director, Prof. Paul Lalvani, was at the Africa CDC Office in Addis Ababa last month, to discuss our existing MoU with the Africa CDC leadership. The Empower team and colleagues from CHS advisory worked with multiple divisions from Africa CDC to develop a comprehensive action plan. Together, we’re driving impactful change and strengthening health systems across Africa.

Strengthening Regulatory Systems through Strategic Partnerships

We recently discussed with General Heran Gerba, Director General of the Ethiopian Food and Drug Authority (EFDA). Our dialogue focused on key areas like regulatory science training, capacity building for regulators, and fostering local pharmaceutical innovation. We are excited to announce our formal collaboration through a memorandum of understanding. We plan to establish a digital learning platform at EFDA to support regulators nationwide and advance EFDA’s vision of becoming a Center of Excellence in health products regulation.
